Open Source Advisory was founded in 2007 by Fred Holahan, a repeat entrepreneur with over 25 years of software industry experience in strategy, marketing and business development. Fred founded Open Source Advisory to help software companies create and use high-powered, innovative market distribution strategies.
He was most recently vice president of marketing at VoltDB, Inc., a provider of database solutions for high throughput applications. Previously, Fred was founding CEO of Active Endpoints, Inc., a leading software company specializing in business process visualization and orchestration. While at Active Endpoints, Fred drove the company’s open source strategies and pioneered its progressive engagement best practices. Prior to Active Endpoints, Fred was co-founder and CEO of GemLogic, Inc., a leading XML integration server company that was acquired by Silverstream Software. Previously, Fred was co-founder and CEO of LexiBridge Corporation, a mainframe migration company that was acquired by Level 3 Communications. Fred has also held executive-level product development and marketing roles at DataEase International, Progress Software and Interactive Data.
Fred holds a MBA from the Olin School of Management at Babson College, and a B.S. in Management Science from the University of Maine.
